What is the difference between a batucada and a solo percussionist?

A batucada is a percussion group of several musicians (usually 6 or more) that performs as a roaming act or stage show, ideal for inaugurations, parades or street entertainment. A solo percussionist is more versatile for weddings, dinners and intimate events where background rhythm or musical accompaniment is needed.

Is special space required for a drum kit?

A full drum kit needs an area of at least 2 x 2 metres, and at indoor events may require acoustic dampening or volume adjustment. The cajón flamenco, bongos and congas are much more compact instruments and can perform in almost any space.

Can percussionists entertain guests during arrivals or do they only perform at specific moments?
